The 44th Annual BigSky Corvette Meet "Revvin The Rims" is completed and in the books! Held on Memorial weekend every year, it was a very successful and fun event despite Sunday’s rainy weather!

A big THANK YOU to all the participants, all of our generous event and ad Sponsors, everyone who donated items for the silent auction and especially to all the hard working members of this year’s sponsoring club, the Glass Reunion Corvette Club of Billings!
We had a very good showing with over 140 cars registered. The region was well represented with cars from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado, British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan Canada and of course Montana!

The event officially kicked off with Saturday morning’s Show N Shine on the grass at Henry’s Garage with 71 Corvettes on display from all 7 generations and many more in the parking lot. I estimated that at the high point there were over 140 Corvettes at the event! A very impressive sight indeed!

The ladies also held a fashion show which was well received and turned out great! It’s hard to draw the “motor heads” attention away from the cars, but mission accomplished! Thank you ladies!

The venue for the Show n Shine and Saturday evenings dinner and entertainment; Henry's Garage was an absolutely AWESOME venue for the day’s events!

Barbequed burgers and brats were on the evening menu catered by Fuddruckers, with many great side dishes, very tasty! After supper The Calamity Jane Players, put on an Elvis themed variety show which kept us all in stitches for their entire show!

The Saturday afternoon Road Rally saw 56 participants who drove the 30 mile loop around Billings following a predetermined route and looking for landmarks and answers to questions along the route. Most had a great time deciphering the route and questions while seeing a bit of Billings and its history along the way.

Weather on Saturday was quite acceptable, mid 60's, sunny in the morning then turning mostly cloudy by about 11am, but thankfully no rain, not even a sprinkle all day.

Sunday morning however came with overnight rains which left the morning’s auto cross at Rimrock Chevrolet’s body shop parking lot in question with wet pavement and puddles, but the rain had stopped and with very overcast skies the event was run. 26 drivers raced their Corvettes for some very good competition! All the Corvettes completed 3 runs each, thankfully with no more rain. Thank you to the Yellowstone SCCA club for organizing and running the auto cross for us!

Sunday morning 6 Corvettes left on the “long tour” headed for Cody Wyoming. They decided along the way to change routs and see how far up the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway they could get before the snow or closed road turned them around. Brave souls for sure!
The Sunday afternoon “short tour” to Red Lodge was a bit wet off and on with a few sun breaks and went off quite well with 35 Corvettes parading the 100 mile back road route as a group, and many more taking the non-organized direct 60 mile route and meeting us there.

The Sunday evening Awards Banquet held at the Billings Hotel & Convention Center was quite good. The meal was buffet style, roast beef, a chicken dish and many sides. The silent auction held that evening had some wonderful items which were all donated for the cause and went quite well. Many people got up to speak to the audience, and all were well received.

In all the weekend’s events raised a nice sum to be donated to our local charities; Ronald McDonald House, Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch, Tumbleweeds, and Charles Campbell Camp.

Next year the Big Sky Corvette Meet will be hosted by the Electric City Corvette Club in Great Falls. The event is always Memorial weekend so mark your calendars and come join in the fun!
